Bro. Chester!
Snow has a 'brother' named Chester. Chester is cross breed between a Schnauzer and Beagle and is going to be 3 years old soon. He stays in Tampin, N.S.
What's special about Bro.Chester is that despite being a very mischievious and playful (loves to play rough) dog, he is surprisingly gentle whenever he plays Snow.

Paw-print Cake
Last week CY decided to surprise us with a Chocolate Cake for both me and Snow. It was not really any special occasion but since he might be away to Scotland soon, he wanted to make sure that he would not miss my birthday celebration with a cake.
The series of happy events above ended with Snow licking the cake while we were not looking!
First Vaccination & Meeting with Uncle Darkie
Dec 13, 2006
Snow had her first vaccination at SPCA, Ampang today.
It is also her first meeting with Uncle Darkie today! She barked when she first saw her. Then they became friends, though Darkie was a bit too clumsy to her, knocking her all over the place. But it was a pleasant meeting!

Snow is Back!
December 01, 2006
Today is the 7th Day Snow spent in her new home. She is back to normal last night! Now i truly believe that a visit to the Vet was really crucial. After taking the medication, she stopped having diarrhea. Initially, she was still reluctant to eat, not until at night when my sis bought back honey chicken and rice, her appetite just changed! From a sleepy looking puppy she was all hyper and begging for the chicken. I guess the smell must be familiar to her (from her previous home or from the animal shelter) or she has just regained her appetite after the 24 hours of diarrhea?
So I managed to crush the two pills into powder form, coated the chicken with the powder and she just swallowed everything. She was back to her own self - naughty, playful, hyperactive. Not really well mannered though, because she messed the whole house with torn toilet rolls which she enjoyed playing very much.
I am really thankful to God for saving the innocent puppy. I was so worried that she would die! And thanks to the Vet for saving her. So glad to see her being herself again!
Can't wait for weekend, where i can spend more time with her.
Looking forward for a great companionship with Snow!

Snow's First Week at Home and her struggles with diarrhea
Day 2 (26.11.06) - It was sunday and we had to go to church. Left her alone in the house again, and came back around noon to start playing with her.
We discovered that she only wants to 'pooh' on newspaper or clothes. She has 'done' it (without us realising it) on the kitchen's rubber mat, on the floor mat upstairs, and on the newspaper near her cage.
Day 3 (27.11.06) - It's monday, and I had to go to work. Came back during lunch time. Was told that she already did her business on the newspaper in the toilet. Housebreaking was on the way!
Day 4 (28.11.06) - I went home again during lunch time. Housebreaking success! She did it in the same spot.
Bought her a water bottle and some little bones (chewy rawhide).
Evening - she managed to escape through the meshwire on our grill and ran out to the porch! Thank God she did not run out to the main road. I must put something on the door soon.
She stayed at home with my younger sis while we were away for bible class at night. Was told that she behaved, and did her business at the right place.
At night, we noticed she started getting sleepy around 11.00pm, pushed her into the cage and encouraged her to stay there. She finally slept without whining this time..
Day 5 (29.11.06) - Today I am determined to leave her alone till evening. Hope and pray that she is ok, and not too hungry. Hope she can drink water on her own. I am quite happy that she is almost 90% potty trained now, just 5 days after entering the new loving home for her.
Never realised that welcoming a puppy home is so exhausting, but it really takes my mind away from my work pressure.
Day 6 (30.11.06) - Snow, please don't die!
I really want to see Snow to grow up as a full-grown dog. Yesterday it was noticable that she was suffering from some diarrhea. She keep having to go to the pooh-site. Her stool was watery, and the fact that she did not eat anything the whole day made her stool really clear without any solid item. But thank God that I bought Pedigree can food yesterday, and her appetite was really great upon opening the can. She ate and begged for more, i ended up giving her 3 servings.
But then, she still have diarrhea throughout the night. At night, it was noticable that she is not as active as usual, and she keep sleeping and inactive. Was really worried about her. Last at night at 1.00am, she kept screaming from her cage. We let her out and turned out that she had a 'rush' to go to the pooh-site again.
This morning, her diarrhea continued..I waited till 9.00am but the vet was not open yet. Went to work, and back home again around noon. Brought her to Mayo, and the vet examined her stool, took her temperature, felt her body( not sure what it was for - just some analysis method i guess) and finally took her weigh. She is 5.1kg. Doctor said she was ok, there was not traces of worms or virus in her feces. But it was obvious that she had some respiratory infection as she has some greenish stuffs on her nose.
Poor Snow was given another Deworm pill down her throat. She got prescriptions for 2 weeks for diarrhea and running nose. But i have problem giving her the pill! She just won't open her mouth for me after the terrible experience in the vet.
Snow was still weak (or sleepy) back at home. She refused to eat, but she does drink a lot of water. Finally i decided to cook some rice and mixed with the next Premium can food, and she ate, only out of my hand..i managed to make her eat part of the pill mixed with the rice too.

Love needs no Pedigree
I really like this Recipe for Happiness taken from www.spca.org.my :
* Adopt a mixed breed pet from your local animal shelter.
* Combine patience, understanding and respect.
* Sprinkle laughter and fun.
* Mix in oodles of love.
* In no time at all you'll have a friend for life!
I found that in Snow!

Snow's journey home from SPCA..
Snow was brought back from the animal shelter (SPCA Ampang) on 25th Nov 06. She was only 2.5months then. She was not used to travelling in the car, or probably it was her anxiety being in the moving vehicle - she vomitted twice. Poor doggie. She then rested her head on my feet, probably that made her feel better.
The moment she arrived to our home, she started sniffing around the house, and immediately turned into a hyper-active and happy puppy! Started 'attacking' us, jumping around happily.
We did notice the strange 'gaggling' sound that she made after she started to get excited. It sounded as if it was from her throat. Having no previous experience in handling puppies, our initial guess was that she may be having a very bad sore throat.
In the evening, we brought her on a car-ride again to nearby pet shop. She started feeling uncomfortable again. It was then we learnt that the sound she was making was due to her cough. She was quite attracted to the rabbits in the pet shop. Got her a large cage (RM190), a pack of puppy food and a red bowl.
The petshop owner was quite discouraging. She pointed out that Snow probably some skin disease as she had some red marks on her forehead and also some scars on both her hind legs.
But as we were determined to take good care of her, we dismissed those remarks and it only would make us even more determined to give our best Tender Loving Care to her.
House-breaking
Her first 'pee' was inside her own cage, but that was the only time that she ever soiled her cage eversince.
Night time, the joviol puppy fell asleep next to me while I was watching tv.
Forcing her to sleep in the cage was difficult, as she started screaming, whining and crying. But finally she kept quiet. Checked on her at 3.00am. Still asleep soundly.
Snow's first day home.
A great journey begins.
