Snow @ Medivet (Animal Medical Centre)

*sigh* ..

Dear Snow is actually at Medivet (24-hour Animal Medical Center) at Jalan Tun Razak right now. It is already her 3rd day there..the past few days have been the toughest for me, CY and snow..

Anyway, to cut the long story short, we had an open wound emergency on thursday night and she had to undergo another surgery to clean up any internal infections and also to re-close the wound on that night itself and on Friday morning. She has to be warded as she needs intensive supervision and care by the good hands in the clinic. We have been visiting her everyday. Today, we visited her again, and was allowed to bring her out at the front area of the clinic on a leash..she looked healthy, but definitely have lost weight. She looked happy, but she knew we were going to leave her in the ward again...*sigh*..it's just tough for me.

I would want to write more about these experiences when I gathered myself again..Right now, I guess, every thought of her close encounter to death brings tears to my eyes. Though she is just a dog...i know God loves dogs too...and God knows how much we needed Snow in our lives..she was granted a second chance to live..

Looking at the bright side, I am really glad to see everything is ok now. Snow is recovering and she is in good hands. The staffs in medivet are great. Dr.Siva and Dr.Sathi, and all the nurses...
Though Snow's medical bill has crossed the 4-digit mark today, we decided to continue to keep her there. There are cheaper clinics around, but we just can't trust anyone anymore..the previous vet that we went to in SS15..hmm..i'll just leave this to another post..when i am in a better mood to talk about it..

Photos below are taken just 1 day before Snow made the 'leap' that caused her stitch wound to open..

Post Surgery Update

Snow is recovering well from her surgery, and we really want to thank everyone who has prayed for her. The weekend really have been a tough time for me, and for Snow too..

But she is back on her four legs ..though still weak, and we know she is still in pain, but she is coping well. And she has great appetite.

I am thankful to my cousin Monitar, for her visit on Sunday morning and her willingness to baby-sit Snow for a day today. We both had to be at work, and we were too worried to let Snow to stay at home alone today. Tomorrow CY will be on leave to take care of her..

Did we do the right thing? i am still asking myself. I don't think Snow is enjoying this experience very much. And I vow that I will never let her through anymore painful experience like this..

Spay Surgery : Are we doing the right thing?

My dear furkid Snow is scheduled to have her spay surgery tomorrow morning. Today evening despite all the excitement at work, I rushed back home by 6pm to make sure we arrived home in time to take her out for favourite activity - barking at our neighbour's cats. Then, gave her a good meal and lots of water. She had to start fasting starting 8pm. CY even fed her some fruits to make sure she won't get dehydrated as she can't drink any water from 8pm onwards till tomorrow. How does a hyperactive pup do without water the entire night?

We both can't sleep tonight, me and snow. She is staring at me now while I am typing this. I wonder what is she thinking. But i know what I'm thinking now. Are we doing the right thing?? Letting her suffer through the surgery. Eventhough the vet doctor told me that it would be minor. But they will have to give her aneastatic. It would probably be hurtful for her. I hated aneastatic the most, especially the after-effect of it. Why do we do this to our lovely dog?

When we adopted her from SPCA last year, giving her a spay surgery was one of the promise we made to SPCA. Being the Society of Prevention of Cruelty to Animal, I don't think they would categorise this surgery as cruelty...i am just trying to comfort myself...are we worrying too much? Or do we love Snow too much that we can't even bear the thoughts of putting her through this painful surgery? I am worried now - would she recover easily? would she suffer? would she be the same cheerful, playful pup after this?

*sigh*

We could just pray that God will see her through. And pray that this is the right decision.

Snow: I love my name.

Spot Me!

Snow : "Yeah..that's me and another Black Lab called Darkie".
I kind of pity him to be given that lousy name.
My name - Snow, is named after the white xmas
as I was adopted as a christmas present for CC.
Loved my name, and loved my owners for loving me.."

Darkie is so black, you can't even see his eyes here..hehe..

SPCA Petition Against Cruelty to Animals: Signed, Sealed, Delivered!

Excerpt from http://www.spca.org.my/press/feb07-petition.pdf
After three years of collecting signatures for its petition against cruelty to animals, The Society For The Prevention Of Cruelty To Animals (SPCA) Selangor finally handed over the signatures to Dr Vincent Lim, the PM’s Political Secretary during a meeting with him on Monday, 22nd January at Putrajaya. SPCA Chairperson Christine Chin, ex-Chairperson Mrs Mea Wheatley and Committee Member Datin Maria Musa represented SPCA at the meeting. Chin was very happy that the meeting was arranged so promptly and that the PM’s Department was so receptive to accepting the petition. Dr Lim was presented with the stack of the 83,032 signatures, and documentation of several recent abuse cases attended to by the SPCA Animal Inspector. He thanked the SPCA for its good work in taking care of the welfare of the local animals, and seemed very concerned about the issues raised.

Found this photo from SPCA's website. That's Snow!! It was taken probably right before she was adopted by her loving current owners. Snow, the furkid that is every part of our life now, could have been put to sleep if no one adopted her...

Snow now..just 4 months after being in a new loving home :

Happily Chewing her Tasty Bone Biscuit on her very own comfortable bed!

Fully stretched on her own bed..zzZZZ

Just another weekend..

What a dog's got to do when her owners are just plain workaholic?
Saturday morning, and the weather is bright and sunny ..
Snow is all 'dressed up' with her yellow collar and Scarf..
....hoping to go out for a walk..
but both owners have their eyes and fingers glued to their laptops..
CY sitting on his favorite spot at the sofa with the Dell Laptop..
CC at her usual corner staring at her flatscreen monitor..
...hmm....

...hmmm....

OK...i take a nap first...
